Mengenal Gejala Demam Berdarah Dengue

Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) merupakan penyakit mematikan yang disebarkan oleh nyamuk belang Aedes Aegypti. Nyamuk ini dapat menyerang setiap saat tanpa mengenal musim. Apalagi dimusim penghujan ini, banyak genangan air yang bisa dijadikan sarang oleh nyamuk tersebut.
Masyarakat juga perlu diajarkan mengenali sosok penyakit DBD. Ada kriteria klinis yang perlu diketahui, terlebih di daerah endemis DBD.
- Demam 2-7 hari. Sering disebut demam pelana kuda karena sifatnya yang naik turun (3 hari panas, hari ke-4 turun, dan naik lagi pada hari ke-5).
- Gejala perdarahan seperti bintik, bercak, bilur, mimisan, perdarahan gusi, muntah darah, dan berak darah.
- Hati membengkak.
- Syok (nadi cepat dan lemah), tekanan nadi (selisih sistolik dengan diastolik) kurang dari 20 mmHg, tekanan darah menurun, kulit dingin dan gelisah.
- Hasil pemeriksaan laboratorium menunjukkan penurunan trombosit menjadi kurang dari 100.000/mm3.
- Darah mengental. Kenaikan haematocrit (Ht) lebih dari 20% (normal kurang dari 50%).
- Apabila terdapat dua atau tiga kriteria klinis yang disertai penurunan trombosit dan kenaikan Ht, maka diagnosis DBD dapat ditegakkan.
Memilih Obat Antidemam
Demam merupakan mekanisme alamiah tubuh dalam menetralisasi virus yang masuk. Diperlukan kejelian dari para orang tua dalam memilih obat antidemam bagi anak-anak.
Obat antidemam (antipyreticum) biasanya memang dijual bebas. Beberapa golongan yang beredar dipasaran meliputi parasetamol (nama lain acetaminophen atau APP), asam salisilat (acetylsalicylateacid) dan ibuprofen. Perbedaan terletak pada derajat antidemam dan antinyeri, selain efek sampingnya.
Berdasarkan rekomendasi WHO pada 1997, pemakaian obat antidemam golongan parasetamol lebih tepat untuk meredakan demam DBD. Hal ini harus diikuti dengan asupan cairan yang cukup seperti oralit, jus buah, dan susu.
Dalam hal menurunkan panas, parasetamol mungkin kalah dengan golongan penurun panas lainnya tapi jauh lebih aman bagi anak-anak. Pemberian obat antidemam yang mengandung ibuprofen tidak dianjurkan untuk anak-anak.
Selain itu, obat yang mengandung asam salisilat bisa mengiritasi lambung. Akibatnya bisa menurunkan trombosit.
